Summer has officially begun!

The first group of campers for the 2012 season arrived at the West End House Girls Camp to find:

An afternoon and evening full of activities beginning with cookies and milk...

followed by Johanna, the Waterfront Director, sharing the camp rules with everyone.
We played some games with Maddie, the Program Counselor

 And Johanna

And Elena, the Head Counselor

We went on a tour of the camp before putting on our swimsuits and heading to the water for our swim test with Johanna.

We went in small groups into the water

When it wasn't our turn, we watched the action

After swimming Miliana helped create this blog post.  While we were working, it started to rain.  Miliana described what happened,

"We heard a little thunder when we were doing our swim test so we went inside and I got my monkey, Andra.  Then the rain started and it was hard.  We are safe inside but Jazzie, the dog, is barking a lot."

"Escuchamos la tempestad cuando estabamos nadando y nos tubimos que entrar. Entonces recoji mi mono, Andra. La lluvia empezó y estaba fuerte. Estábamos fuera de peligro pero Jazzie, la mascota estaba ladrando mucho."

There was a lot of rain but Jazzie stopped barking and settled down

And the storm passed

So we could enjoy a delicious dinner of Italian Wedding soup, calzones, and salad with orange slices all cooked by Rudy
Then it was more games, snacks and showers before heading off to bed.

With a beautiful moon to watch over us on our first night at camp.

We are looking forward to a full day of activities and fun tomorrow!
